JUST IN: Ondo Monarch escapes abduction

A traditional ruler in Ondo state, Oba Olajide Okunato, the Iresi of Osi near Akure, the state capital was reportedly attacked by suspected herdsmen on his way home along Shasha-Oba Ile road near Akure, the state capital.

Iresi is the host community of the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Akure.

Sources said the Fulani herdsmen allegedly used their cows to stop his car.

However, the traditional ruler was said to be so smart enough to have allegedly brought out his weapon of defence quickly when they attempted to seize him.

It was learnt that the herdsmen on sighting the weapon immediately ran for safety.

The monarch was said to have reported the incident to security operatives.

It was learnt that one of the suspects that allegedly attempted the monarch was later arrested and now in custody at the state police command, Igbatoro road, Akure.

Police spokesman, Femi Joseph could not be reached for reaction on the incident.

The scene of the incident was few meters away from where a mother and her step son was also abducted last Sunday.
