The Oyo State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress on Monday suspended its strike action to enable the incoming government of Mr . Seyi Makinde take -off on a clean slate .
The workers began the strike last Friday following the breakdown of talks between the labour leaders and the outgoing government officials on issues affecting their welfare.
Chairman of NLC , Comrade Bayo Titilola- Sodo announced the suspension of the strike at a news conference in Ibadan .
Titilola- Sodo noted that the Governor -elect was a well- bred person, noting that labour believes that Makinde would address all issues pertaining to the welfare of workers .
“In deference to this man of honour and to assure Mr . Seyi Makinde of the good intentions of Oyo State workers , the strike action is hereby suspended , and workers are hereby directed to resume immediately . ”
He emphasised that some of the demand of the workers have been on the table of the outgoing government for the last one to two years .
“The strike came ( on) in the belief that with political will , the remaining number of days would birth a good life for the workers .
Our strike action was not intended to intimidate or embarrass the incoming government as some people may want to insinuate .”
