The National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, slammed the Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Chris Ekpenyong and the Party over an attempt to cause the Tribunal to reverse itself. The Tribunal had on April 2, 2019 granted an exparte order to Senator Godswill Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for inspection of materials in the custody of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). PDP had sought a counter order of the Tribunal to bar the APC and Senator Godswill Akpabio from inspecting electoral materials used in the February 23, 2019 Senatorial elections in Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District. Counsel to the PDP, Mr Solomon Umoh, SAN had prayed “the Tribunal to dismiss Akpabio’s petition in its entirety” as well as “set aside the petitioner’s request for inspection and forensic analysis of election materials.”…

ALL PROGRESIVE CONGRESS, APC 149, Ikot Ekpene Road , Uyo Akwa Ibom State. PRESS STATEMENT What are the forces controlling Mike Igini ? Whoever had any iota of doubt about the weak character, bad conduct and poor judgement of Michael Igini, the INEC REC in Akwa Ibom State, only needs to read his latest outburst against the APC to clear such reservations. Mr. Igini addressed a press conference in his office last Friday, and claimed that the APC candidates in the last general elections are challenging the results of the elections at the Tribunals because they want to ‘make noise, attract sympathy and look for appointments from President Buhari’. Even those that had benefitted from Mike Igini’s electoral scam have been embarrassed by this reckless, partisan, insulting and gratuitous statement. There is no other REC, among the 37 of them in the country – and we know that there are…

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole has stated that INEC connived with the Akwa Ibom state government to rig Senator Godswill Akpabio out. Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Abuja, he said the electoral umpire deliberately employed government officials as election agents with instructions to deliver victory to PDP candidates. Oshiomhole said elections in Akwa Ibom state were not close to free and fair, stating that the APC has evidence of altered figures of senatorial election results that affected the former Minority leader of the Nigerian Senate. His words, “Akpabio was rigged in the last week’s elections. How would one explain altered figures against Akpabio which we have in our custody? “The Independent National Electoral Commission in Akwa Ibom employed Akwa Ibom state officials as electoral officers who manipulated figures against opponents. “They keep manipulating and adjusting figures until they are satisfied…

By Wole Arisekola What will we not hear from our effusively childish modern politicians? Last week , Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State was so proud of his achievement as the first Akwa Ibom son to fly a private jet to his state from Lagos before he became their Number One citizen. He said “those who came back to Akwa Ibom State through night bus and the ones who came back through chartered flight, are they the same?” If Nigeria is a country where people reward achievements, I think Mr Udom Emmanuel deserves one. Or is it not an achievement to fly a private jet to see one’s parents in a mud house? Is it not an achievement to fly a private jet to where you have no single building before you became governor? This is one of the hazards of promoting individuals beyond their intellectual capacity. Most…

The spokesperson for the Police Command in Uyo, DSP Odiko MacDon confirmed the arrest. Odiko said, Obong Ndutim was arrested in connection with an alleged publishing of fake and damaging stories-cum-blackmailing of a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Godswill Akpabio. It was gathered that the arrest followed a petition written by Senator Akpabio, alleging that Obong Ndutim’s website published an offensive and libelous story alleging that the senator was involved in money laundering with some Nigerian banks: titled ‘CBN probes Akpabio’s N865b unrecorded despites in three banks.’ The…

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy – 2 Timothy 3:1-2 The holy Bible is an encyclopedia of knowledge and true reference to our past, present and future. When you look at the above verse , You will agree with me that the ugly events that enveloped Akwa Ibom State in the last two weeks can be attributed to the youthful exuberance of the state governor and his lieutenants. That is the catastrophic result of promoting an individual above his competence. When something goes wrong, you do not rush to blame others. Maturity is the ability to think, speak and act your feelings within the bounds of dignity. When Governor Udom Emmanuel threw decorum to the gutters by referring to his former boss, Senator Godswill…
