Nigerian travellers will have to apply for a Tanzanian tourist visa at the Embassy or have the Tanzanian host apply for them. Applicants are expected to submit the following, in addition to the processing fee, to the Tanzanian Embassy in Abuja

Tanzanian visa

Nigerian tourists used to have the option of visa getting their visas at the border on arrival, but all that might change now.

Here is the requirment for tanzania’s visa application:

-Two recent passport photographs
-An international passport that is valid for at least 6 months from date of application
-An introduction letter from your employer
-Reservation details
-An invitation letter if you have been invited by someone

The bilateral agreement between Nigeria and Tanzania works on reciprocal system so a change in visa policy in one country will reflect on that country’s citizens in Nigeria i.e. Tanzanian visitors to Nigeria will also now have their visa-on-arrival option withdrawn.

According to Funmi Oyatogun, founder of TVP Adventures, who was was able to corroborate this development from an Immigration officer in Dar es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania. However, the governments of Tanzania and Nigeria are yet to release an official press release to confirm the story.

Tanzania’s gorgeous island of Zanzibar was just named one of the hottest travel spots for Nigerians in 2018. It was also one of the 29 African countries Nigerians could visit without a visa. Nigerians could either get it at the border or apply for the visa while in Nigeria.
However, this change in visa processing will eliminate the option of visa-on-arrival for Nigerians as well as other countries such as Mali, Niger, Yemen, Somalia, among others.
