Dramatic CCTV footage has captured the moment a two-year-old girl was caught as she fell from the window of her family’s second-floor apartment in Turkey.
Doha Muhammed was caught by 17-year-old Feuzi Zabaat who noticed the Syrian toddler was about to fall from the window of her home in the Fatih district of Istanbul.
Mr Zabaat, an Algerian immigrant who works at a frame workshop on the same street, positioned himself underneath the window and caught the girl before she hit the ground.
Doha survived the accident without any injuries.
The Demirören news agency in Turkey said that the two-year-old girl, Doha Muhammad, survived the fall in Fatih, Istanbul, “without even bleeding”.
She had apparently wandered to the window while her mum was busy cooking.
Her rescuer said he did what he had to do to save the girl: “I did what was necessary for the love of Allah.”
According to local media, the toddler approached the open window of the apartment while her mother was cooking in the kitchen.
Doha’s family hailed Mr Zabaat as a hero and gave him a gift of 200 Turkish Liras ($50) to show their gratitude.
