The Chairperson of the Diaspora Subcommittee of the Alaafin Coronation and President of the Oyo Descendants Union UK/Ireland, Princess Alhaja Bilikisu Savage, has issued a heartfelt appeal to all Oyo sons and daughters in the diaspora to support the upcoming coronation and reign of His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye Oba Engr. Akeem Abimbola Owoade I, as he ascends the throne of his forefathers.

In a statement released by the spokesman Prince Lashley Ladigbolu, Princess Alhaja Bilikisu Savage emphasized the historic significance of this momentous occasion, noting that the ascension of Kabiyesi marks a new era of progress, unity, and cultural renaissance for Oyo. She underscored the necessity of channeling resources and expertise into Oyo’s infrastructure, education, health, and technology sectors to restore the kingdom’s historical and economic significance as a center of excellence in Yoruba land.Furthermore, she lauded Kabiyesi’s visionary leadership, global exposure, and unwavering commitment to unity, reconciliation, and progress, noting that these qualities make him the ideal ruler to steer Oyo towards a prosperous future.

The new Alaafin’s reign, she emphasized, presents a unique opportunity for Oyo indigenes worldwide to unite in purpose and action, leveraging their resources and networks to bring about sustainable development.

“The time has come for all sons and daughters of Oyo, no matter where they reside, to reconnect with their roots and contribute meaningfully to the growth of our great kingdom. Our Kabiyesi has the wisdom, the foresight, and the passion to transform Oyo into a beacon of development, and it is our duty to stand with him in this noble endeavor,” she declared.

She urged Oyo indigenes in the diaspora to seize this moment to return home, invest, establish businesses, and engage in projects that will uplift the land of their ancestors.
