THE INSANITY WE CALL NORMAL
A Poem on a Society That Crowns Lies and Betrayal

They clap for the liar today,
give him microphone, medal, and seat.
Call him “smart,” “connected,” “he knows the game,”
while the man who told truth eats shame for meat.

We live in an upside-down world,
where faithfulness is mocked as “foolishness,”
and honesty is a debt no one wants to pay.
The faithful wife is “naive,”
the honest clerk is “waste,”
the loyal friend is “too local for this age.”

Oh, the insanity!
We reward the knife that stabs in the back,
but exile the hand that heals the wound.
We celebrate the politician who switches parties like shirts,
but crucify the one who keeps his word.
We promote the staff who falsifies figures,
but transfer the one who balances the books.

In this market of madness,
betrayal has a price tag,
and integrity is “on clearance.”
We crown the man who breaks covenant,
then wonder why nothing we build lasts.
We water lies with applause,
then act surprised when our harvest is thorns.

What kind of society trains children
that cheating is skill,
and stealing is “hustle”?
What kind of parents laugh
when their child says, “I lied my way to the top”?
What kind of God will we face
with trophies bought with treachery?

The insanity is this:
We want trust without truth,
marriage without fidelity,
nation without honor,
and heaven without righteousness.
We want buildings to stand
on foundations we keep sawing.

But hear me, society drunk on dishonesty:
A crown of thorns still pierces.
A house built on lies will fall —
not if, but when.
And when the music stops,
and the crowd scatters,
the unfaithful man will meet his shadow,
and the dishonest hand will count empty air.

So let this poem be a mirror, not music.
Let it break the trance.
For faithfulness may be slow,
but it sleeps well at night.
Honesty may be poor today,
but it stands tall when storms come.

Reward who you will, O world.
But I will choose the ancient path:
To be true when no one claps,
to be faithful when no one watches,
because the only audience that matters
keeps records that no fraud can erase.

Insanity is calling evil “strategy.” Sanity is choosing truth when it costs everything.

Let the world reward betrayal.
I will reward my soul with peace.
