This disclosure is sequel to a crucial meeting held with the leadership of the Motorcycles and tricycles Associations in Oyo State led by Com. Yetunde Alabi, State Chairperson (MTUN), Com. Akande Gafar, Chairman (TRAMOAS), Comr. Joseph Okunola, Orisade Ramoni, Yekeen Mumeen Adebayo, and Com. Adegoke T., Chairmen of NACTOMORAS, ANACOWA, TTAN, RTEAN respectively.

In a statement released by the Executive Chairman, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi said, “the Authority, having conducted due diligence and meeting with relevant stakeholders, has given a 14-day ultimatum to all commercial motorcycles operating within the State to comply with the directive of painting their respective motorcycles with State approved colours ‘wine’ and ‘yellow’.

Speaking further, he revealed that “the policy is in tandem with the Second Schedule, License Conditions 9 (Commercial), Code LCG01 of the Oyo State Traffic Management Authority Law 2009 which stipulates a fine of N15,000 on defaulters.

Therefore, the enactment of this policy is statutorily backed by the extant laws of Oyo State and it would help to significantly stem the tide of bag snatching, kidnapping and other nefarious acts orchestrated by some unscrupulous motorcyclists in the State.

Furthermore, it would help in the easy identification of commercial motorcyclists across the State, hence, preventing unsuspecting members of the public from falling prey of fraudsters parading as motorcyclists”, Dr. Fagbemi concluded.
