Prof Akande hosts Asiwaju Tinubu 2027 Media Vanguard

… seeks media exposure of govt. initiatives

Former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission(NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande has called on the media to give more exposure to the policies and programmes of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to secure better understanding and support for the government.

He made the plea on Saturday when he hosted members of the Asiwaju Tinubu 2027 Media Vanguard in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. He noted that the policies and programmes of the government are well-reasoned and deserve the acceptance of the populace. Prof Akande noted that if the citizens are well informed about government policies, it would be easier for them to accept and support the programmes.

Prof Akande noted that the economic policies of the government were decisions that previous regimes shied away from taking to the detriment of the development of the country.

“Every government since the Shagari Government had noted that the country’s economy had structural problems that must be fixed to restore the economy to the path of development.

Professor Akande who is a professor of Political Science noted that this realisation informed the Austerity Measures of the Shagari Government while the Economic policies of the Buhari/Idiagbon government were informed by the same realisation. He explained that the economic Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) of the Babangida government in its elements were also designed to fix the structural problems.

Professor Akande explained that if all the previous regimes had vigorously pursued fixing the structural problems as the Tinubu government is doing, the nation would have since resolved its economic problems.

He commended the Asiwaju Tinubu 2027 Media Vanguard, a team of media practitioners assembled to promote the policies and programmes of the Tinubu government and mobilise support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections, for their thoughtfulness.

“Your assembly is praise-worthy. The Tinubu government deserves the support of well-meaning Nigerians and the President deserves the mobilisation of all and sundry for a second term”, he noted.

Professor Akande noted that the success of the group would ensure the second term of President Tinubu in 2027, which he said, would sustain the policies and programmes that would consolidate the economic recovery and development of Nigeria.
