IFA SPLASHES N640,000 CASH PRIZES ON LEAGUE; KICKING OFF SEPTEMBER 26.


 

The body running the game of soccer in Oyo State capital, the Ibadan Football Association (IFA) has disclosed that it has increased the cash prizes for winners of this year’s edition of the League; even as the competition kicks off, Sunday, September 26.

All the best Ten teams for this year’s League would collect #640,000 Naira.

The Association, through its Chairman Barrister Rotimi Alli, also announced that it had increased the number of teams that would go home with cash prizes from three to ten.

Speaking at a well-attended Press Conference held on Tuesday at the IFA office at Olubadan stadium, Iyaganku in Ibadan, Barrister Alli disclosed that the eventual winner of the League would cart away the only Trophy and a sum of # 250,000 Naira.

The IFA Chairman added that the first runner up and second runner up would pocket #150,000 Naira and #100,000 naira respectively.

Alli, who spoke extensively on the activities of his soccer governing body, revealed further that clubs that finished on the fourth to tenth position in the League would receive consolation prizes of #20,000 Naira for their efforts.

The forthcoming edition of the League, which is the 84th edition, will kick off on Sunday, September 26 inside Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium) in Ibadan.

The IFA League is the oldest and the most functional local football association league in West Africa.
