Makinde Presents 33 Operational Vehicles, 396 Motorcycles To Amotekun Operatives


The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has presented operational vehicles and motorcycles to the Southwest Security Network known as Operation Amotekun with a view to checkmating the nefarious activities of the suspected kidnappers, hoodlums and armed robbers.

The presentation took place today at the Oyo State House of assembly, secretariat Ibadan where the Governor revealed that One each of the recruits will man each ward of total 356 across the state.

To enhance their smooth operation and convenience, Makinde has facilitated the presentation of 396 operational motorcycles to Amotekun recruits when each bike will be available to each ward and the remaining 40 motorcycles will be available at Amotekun Headquarters.

Makinde in his inaugural speech charged Operation Amotekun to adhere strictly to the purpose that brought them into existence.

He said Amotekun was not only known in the pacesetter state but also in the entire Southwest geopolitical zone aimed at restoring peace and checkmate the dastardly acts of the suspected kidnappers, hoodlums and armed robbers respectively.

Makinde said that if the state police had not come into existence now, Amotekun Corps have the similar capabilities, skills and expected experience to do the needful in protecting lives and property of the people of the state.

He added that he had the testimony that they are doing their works with diligence, seriousness and focus, saying that what people are saying about them is a clear vindication of their uprightness and principles.

He called their attention to honesty and faithfulness to Oyo State and equally charged them to avoid being sentimental, prejudice and acrimonious in the discharge of their duties.

On 2023 general election, he however said that when 2022, all would come to a round table discussion to decide whether it is either Yoruba presidency or otherwise but fact remains that Nigeria needs restructuring.

The Chairman of Amotekun Corps in the state,Brigadier General Ajibola Kunle Toogun reiterated the Governor’s stance on the corps’ existence and pledged that he would expedite all actions to ensure they perform diligently and effectively.

The event was witnessed by the creme de lacreme across the state, government officials and notable members of Peoples Democratic Party.
