Oyo State government has inaugurated a committee that will work toward organizing the the first Cultural-Tourism Festival in the State, tagged ‘Omi-Tuntun Cultural-Tourism Festival’.
The Committee members include the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Tourism, Hon. Ademola Ige, the Vice Chairman, Oyo State Tourism Board, Alhaji Abass Oloko, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Bunmi Babalola and members of the State Tourism Board which include Mrs Sarah Sobowale and heads of the Culture and Tourism Directorates.
While inaugurating the committee, Dr. Olatubosun hinted that the present administration in Oyo State would leave no stone unturned in promoting the cultural and tourists potentials in the State for the growth of its economy.
He added that culture and tourism would go a long way in signposting the major achievements of the Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State.
“This festival will incorporate many tourism enthusiasts and sponsors and the committee will work in preparing ground for the festival and seek out cultural and tourism enthusiasts that will collaborate with government on this.
“Culture and tourism promotion will signpost the major achievements of the present administration and we are working on the authority of governor Makinde to promote these two sectors as revenue generating points as well as make them a veritable means of employment generation for our youths.
“The Omi-Tuntun Cultural-Tourism Festival will hold during the Easter holidays to afford all and sundry partake in the celebration,” he announced.
The Special Adviser to Governor Makinde on Tourism, Hon. Ademola Ige said the committee would work to achieve the desires of the State administration in taking culture and tourism promotion to an enviable height.
